About SakuraDict

SakuraDict is a set of tools to learn Japanese. It features:

• a dictionary of kanji and words in Japanese with a lot of meta information.
• a search engine of free graded readings.
• a way to create and share lists of kanji and words.

SakuraDict has been created by Cyrille Karmann, with the goal of applying a modern UI to an online dictionary, to provide unique ways to find reading texts in Japanese and explore ideas around learning of the language.

The data for the dictionary comes from the WWWJDIC project by Jim Breen. MeCab has been used to analyze texts prior to grading their difficulty. JLPT lists are based on the work of tanos.co.uk.
